Adrian is an inspiration, who makes great music, and is proving that music careers can happen for independent Indigenous artists who still live on First Nations.
With the inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, it’s a time to include the voice of an artist like Adrian Sutherland – one of the only professional musicians in Canada who lives in and works from an isolated First Nation community, and who experiences first-hand many of the issues facing First Nations.
His first solo album is called When the magic hits and his new single is Magic Hits. It's included in this Mulligan Stew Podcast along with Scared, Walk with me, and Nowhere to run.
The song Walk With Me, co-written with Serena Ryder and produced by Colin Linden, is about walking together towards Reconciliation.
Nowhere to run is about his mother and her life in Indian Residential School and domestic violence.
I promise Adrian Sutherland will surprise and delight you. He’s a winner.
